Bageshwar Dham Accident: Devotee Dies, Several Injured as Tent Collapses

One devotee died and around 10 were injured when a tent collapsed during the aarti at Bageshwar Dham, Chhatarpur, on Thursday. Preparations were underway to celebrate Dhirendra Shastri's birthday at the time of the accident.

Bageshwar Dham Accident: A major accident occurred Thursday morning at the famous Bageshwar Dham, located in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh. A tent collapsed during the aarti in the Dham premises, causing chaos among the devotees present. In this accident, Shyam Lal Kaushal, 50, a resident of Ayodhya, died on the spot, while about 10 other devotees were injured. The injured devotees have been admitted to a nearby hospital, some of whom are reported to be in serious condition.

Strong wind or construction fault caused the accident

According to information received, the accident occurred when hundreds of devotees were participating in the aarti in the Bageshwar Dham premises. During that time, a heavy tent suddenly collapsed due to b wind or a fault in the construction. Several people were buried under the tent and screams erupted. People present at the spot immediately started relief work.

Fatal injury from an iron rod

An iron rod used to erect the tent fell on the head of a devotee, causing his death on the spot. The deceased, Shyam Lal Kaushal, had come from Ayodhya, but his native village is in the Basti district of Uttar Pradesh. He had arrived at Bageshwar Dham with other members of his family for a religious event.

Administration and Dham management took charge

As soon as the news of the accident was received, the administration and the Dham management committee became active. Relief and rescue operations were started immediately. Police and ambulance teams reached the spot and controlled the situation. The injured were taken to the hospital in time.

Preparations were underway for Dhirendra Shastri's birthday

The accident happened at a time when preparations for special religious events were in full swing at Bageshwar Dham. July 4 is the birthday of Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, the head priest of Bageshwar Dham, and a grand event is being prepared at the Dham for this occasion. From July 1 to July 3, a divine court of Balaji has been set up, while the birthday is to be celebrated on July 4.

The entire Dham premises is being decorated

About 50,000 devotees from India and abroad are expected to arrive at Bageshwar Dham for Guru Purnima and the birthday celebrations. Gada village is being grandly decorated for the event. Devotees had started arriving from Tuesday. The Dham management was making preparations for security and arrangements, but this accident has raised questions about the arrangements.

Preparations are also underway for Guru Diksha Mahotsav

The Guru Diksha Mahotsav is also proposed to be organized at Bageshwar Dham on July 7 and 8. During this, thousands of devotees and disciples will be given initiation by giving them Guru Mantra. Chakresh Sullere, in-charge of the Diksha event of Bageshwar Dham Jan Seva Samiti, said that preparations for this event had been going on for a long time. The management and the local administration are in constant coordination to make this event a success.
