Bihar Voter List Revision Campaign: Add, Correct, or Remove Names by September 1st

The Special Intensive Revision Campaign for the Voter List in Bihar will run from August 1st to September 1st. During this period, citizens can add their names to the list, correct errors, or have ineligible names removed.

Bihar Voter List: Keeping the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections in mind, the Election Commission has taken a significant step. The commission has initiated the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the voter list, under which citizens will have the opportunity to add, remove, or correct their names in the voter list from August 1st, 2025, to September 1st, 2025. This process is considered an important initiative towards making democracy more transparent and inclusive.

Publication of Draft Voter List on August 1st

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has informed that the revised draft of the voter list will be published on August 1st, 2025. After this, within a period of one month, any eligible citizen will be able to claim why their name is not on the list, or why someone else's name is incorrectly included. Objections can also be registered during this period.

What can voters do?

Under this Special Intensive Revision campaign, the following actions can be taken:

  • If your name is not on the voter list, you can file a claim to add it.
  • If your name is incorrectly recorded on the list, you can apply for correction.
  • If the name of an ineligible person is included, you can file an objection to it.

Role of BLOs and BLAs is Crucial

The role of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) will also be very important in this process. From August 1st to September 1st, BLOs/BLAs will accept forms from citizens whose names have been omitted or incorrectly added to the list. The Election Commission has also involved political parties in this process. On July 20th, 2025, the commission shared the necessary information with 1.5 lakh BLAs nominated by the district presidents of 12 major political parties.

Both Online and Offline Modes Available

Voters who are currently outside Bihar but have their voter registration in Bihar can also participate in this process. For this:

  • You can fill out the online form by visiting https://voters.eci.gov.in or the ECINet app.
  • You can send the printed form to the BLO.
  • The form can also be sent via WhatsApp.

This initiative not only simplifies the process but also ensures that every eligible citizen gets the right to vote.

Claims and Objections Accepted Until September 1st

After the publication of the draft list, from August 1st to September 1st, any person or political party will have the right to register their claim or objection with the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) of the concerned assembly constituency. The commission's objective is that no eligible voter should be deprived of the list.

This process is not just a formality before the election. This campaign ensures that the voter list is accurate and that no citizen is deprived of their right to vote. It also ensures that fake names or ineligible persons can be removed from the list.
