Lucknow: Following the NDA's resounding victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party's focus is now on next year's Panchayat elections and the 2027 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. With this goal in mind, efforts are underway to strengthen the party organization and sharpen strategies. On Wednesday, the BJP announced the names of 14 more district presidents. In March this year, the party had announced 70 district and city unit presidents.

Approximately nine months later, keeping the OBC community in mind, names of district presidents for 14 out of 28 pending cities/districts were announced this week. Following the announcement of 14 new district/city unit chiefs, discussions have intensified that the party is also preparing for the swift appointment of a new state unit president.

Party Announces Names of 14 District Presidents

On Wednesday, the BJP announced the names of its new chiefs for Meerut, Hapur, Firozabad district, Hathras, Aligarh Metropolitan, Aligarh district, Etah, Jalaun, Jhansi Metropolitan, Hamirpur, Fatehpur, Barabanki, Jaunpur, and Kaushambi districts/cities. According to senior party leaders, announcements for the presidents of Varanasi, Ayodhya, Saharanpur, Ambedkarnagar, and Chandauli districts are still pending.

In March this year, the party released its first list of 70 district and city unit presidents. Approximately nine months later, new presidents were announced for 14 out of the 28 pending districts. Focus on Caste Balance

Of the total 84 unit chiefs announced so far, 31 are from OBC, 7 from Scheduled Caste (SC), and 46 from the General category. In the first list, there were more names from the General category and approximately 25 from OBC. This time, the 14 new names include 6 OBC and 1 SC. The party's objective is to strengthen the organization while maintaining caste balance, to ensure the support of all communities in the upcoming elections.

A senior BJP leader stated that the party's complete focus is now on the state president. The new state president will lead the state in the 2027 Assembly elections and the Panchayat elections preceding them. As Uttar Pradesh is the country's largest state, the leadership of its state unit will significantly impact election strategy and organizational functioning.

This time, various political speculations are circulating regarding the announcement of the state president's name. Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary's tenure ended in August, and since then, the party has accelerated preparations for new leadership within the organization.
