Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice Bhushan Gavai visited the Shirodkar School in Mumbai on Sunday. This is the same school where he completed his primary and secondary education. Upon visiting his alma mater, the CJI became emotional and emphasized the importance of education in the mother tongue, stating that studying in the mother tongue not only helps in a deeper understanding of subjects but also lays a b foundation of life values and self-confidence in children.
CJI Gavai said, "Education in the mother tongue clarifies children's thinking and gives them the right direction in decision-making. Whatever I am today, this school and my teachers have a significant contribution to it."
Revisiting old memories by visiting the school
During the visit, he inspected the school's classrooms, library, and art section and also had a cordial meeting with his old classmates. Addressing from the stage, he explained that the school's cultural programs and speech competitions gave him the confidence to speak on a public platform.
He said that the education and values received from here have enabled him to fulfill the supreme judicial responsibility of the country today.
Became emotional seeing the students' presentation
The CJI visibly became emotional after seeing the cultural presentation given by the students during the program. He said that the educational and emotional foundation he received in his childhood through the Marathi medium still guides his life today.
This visit of the Chief Justice was not just an opportunity to connect with childhood memories, but it also gave a b message about the depth of education in the mother tongue and its long-term impact.
