C.P. Radhakrishnan Received 452 Votes

Rajya Sabha Secretary General P.C. Modi announced the results of the Vice Presidential election. NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan received 452 votes in this election. The opposition had nominated former Supreme Court judge B. Sudarshan Reddy to contest against him. Reddy could only secure 300 votes. With this result, it became clear that Radhakrishnan won by a considerable margin.

Cross-Voting Occurred

The BJP has claimed cross-voting in this election. They stated that several opposition MPs voted in favor of the NDA candidate. The opposition bloc had claimed that all their 315 MPs cast 100 percent of their votes. Despite this, the opposition candidate received only 300 votes. This difference has caused a stir in the opposition camp and indicates that some MPs might have engaged in cross-voting.

Questions Raised on Opposition Unity

The election results have raised questions about the unity of the opposition. Congress leader and communication in-charge Jairam Ramesh had written on X that all opposition MPs had voted.
