Delhi Hospitals Declared 'Sentinel Centers' Amid Dengue and Malaria Surge

In light of the increasing cases of dengue and malaria, Delhi MCD has declared Hindu Rao, Swami Dayanand, and Kasturba Hospitals as 'Sentinel Surveillance Centers'. These hospitals are equipped with 167 beds, medicines, and doctor facilities.

Delhi Health Alert: With the onset of the monsoon season in Delhi, the risk of dengue, malaria, and other mosquito-borne diseases increases. Keeping this in mind, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has declared three major hospitals as 'Sentinel Surveillance Hospitals' to strengthen health services. This step is a crucial part of the strategy to deal with potential disease outbreaks in the capital.

Which Hospitals Have Been Designated as Sentinel Surveillance Centers?

MCD has prepared Hindu Rao Hospital, Swami Dayanand Hospital, and Kasturba Hospital specifically for monitoring and treating cases of dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. A total of 167 beds have been reserved in these three hospitals. Of these, 70 will be available at Hindu Rao, 22 at Swami Dayanand, and 75 at Kasturba Hospital.

24x7 Medical Facilities and Ample Resources

The availability of doctors, nurses, and technical staff has been ensured round the clock in these hospitals so that immediate medical services can be provided in any emergency. Along with this, adequate arrangements for medicines, platelets, and intravenous fluids have also been made. The aim of MCD is to ensure that every dengue-related patient receives timely and effective treatment.

Multi-Dimensional Preparation of Health Services

Satya Sharma, Chairperson of the Standing Committee, stated that all facilities, from admission to treatment and recovery, are being operated under a well-planned system in the hospitals. Strict instructions have been given to the hospital administration to ensure that there is no negligence in the care of patients.

Municipal Corporation Also Alert to Cholera

Not only dengue and malaria, but MCD has also taken steps to deal with cholera. Cases of cholera have started emerging in some areas of Delhi due to suspected drinking water. In such areas, MCD has started special campaigns to distribute liquid chlorine and ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) packets. The aim is to prevent infection and dehydration.
