World champions Nikhat Zareen, Lovlina Borgohain, Nitu Ghanghas, and Sweetie Boora, showcasing their brilliant performance once again, have secured their place in the finals of the Elite Women's Boxing Tournament.
Elite Women’s Boxing: The star of Indian women's boxing is shining once again. In the Elite Women's National Boxing Championship, the country's renowned boxers have performed bly, confirming their place in the finals. Several big names, including two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen, Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain, Commonwealth Games gold medalist Nitu Ghanghas, and Asian champion Sweetie Boora, have entered the title fight after winning their semi-final bouts.
Nikhat, Lovlina, Nitu's Stellar Performances
Nikhat Zareen gave a brilliant display of her strength and technique, defeating V. Lakshya 5-0. Lakshya looked completely helpless against her speed and accurate punches. Now Nikhat will face Jyoti of RSPB, where she will be aiming for another title with her aggressive game.
On the other hand, Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain won her semi-final match against Sneha of Uttar Pradesh on a technical basis (RSC) in the first round itself. Lovlina's excellent footwork and powerful punches did not give Sneha a chance to complete the bout. Now she will enter the 75 kg category final, where her intention will be to capture another gold.
Commonwealth Games 2022 gold medalist Nitu Ghanghas also gave no chance to her opponent. She reached the final by defeating Manju Rani of Railways in the 48 kg weight category semi-final. Nitu's next match will be against Chanchal, who will try to give her a tough challenge.
Other Players Also Showed Their Strength
Asian champion Sweetie Boora also showed a b performance in the semi-final of her 80 kg weight category. She defeated Babita Bisht of All India Police 5-0 and will now face Alfiya Pathan of RSPB in the title bout. Sweetie proved with her powerful right hook and excellent defense that she is a b contender for the title.
Former youth world champion Ankushita Boro (TOPS) defeated Amita Kundu 5-0 in the 65 kg weight category. Her next opponent will be Shashi of RSPB, who defeated Yashi Sharma of Telangana 5-0. Additionally, in the 54 kg weight category, Preeti (TOPS) and Tanu (SSCB) secured their tickets to the final with their brilliant performances. In the 57 kg category, B. Chanu (RSPB) and Kamaljit Kaur Gill (AIP) will face each other in the title bout.
The super heavyweight, i.e., 80+ kg category has also seen an exciting final. Ritika of SAI and Shivani Tomar of AIP will compete for the title in this category.
