Kharge Criticizes थरूर's Praise for Modi Amidst Congress Dissent

Congress President Kharge Jabs at Shashi थरूर over Praises for PM Modi

Delhi: Growing dissent within the Congress party surrounds शशि थरूर’s public praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On Wednesday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge subtly criticized थरूर without directly naming him. In response, थरूर posted a message on social media, interpreted as a sign of his discontent with the party.

थरूर’s Response on Social Media

Shortly after Kharge’s remarks, शशि थरूर shared a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account: “Wings are your own, no permission needed to fly. The sky belongs to no one.”

थरूर Calls PM Modi ‘India’s Principal Asset’

Recently, शशि थरूर was part of a delegation that traveled abroad to expose Pakistan regarding India’s ‘Operation Sindhur.’ During this time, he described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “India’s principal asset.” This statement has been amplified by the BJP, and many Congress leaders within the party have considered it a deviation from party lines.

Mallikarjun Kharge’s Indirect Jab

Congress President Kharge, in a statement in Gulbarga on Wednesday, said, “Mr. थरूर’s language is good, so he was given a place in the Congress Working Committee. But when I said that we are standing together for the country, united in Operation Sindhur, some people say ‘Modi first, the country later.’ What can we do about that?”

Discontent Now Public

Shashi थरूर has previously faced questions regarding his praise for Prime Minister Modi, but this dissent has now moved beyond veiled criticism. Several senior party leaders are now openly speaking on the issue. The Congress party, which often opposes PM Modi’s policies, is seeing its party line weakened by a senior leader repeatedly expressing appreciation for him.

थरूर’s Role Has Been Significant

As part of the delegation that traveled abroad after ‘Operation Sindhur,’ थरूर played a key role. He firmly presented India’s stance on the international stage during his trip to the United States. During this time, he praised the Prime Minister’s role, stating that it was beneficial for India’s international image.
