Vice President Dhankhar Suffers Health Issue During Uttarakhand Event

Following the conclusion of the Uttarakhand visit, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar experienced a sudden health issue at a program in the Kumaun University, causing temporary disruption and concern.

Nainital: During a poignant moment on his visit to Uttarakhand, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar became unwell while attending the Golden Jubilee celebration of Kumaun University in Nainital. As he embraced his long-time parliamentary colleague, Dr. Mahendra Singh Pal, from the stage, both veteran leaders were overcome with nostalgic memories. This emotional surge led to a sudden deterioration in the Vice President’s health, prompting immediate medical assistance.

Lost in Old Memories

As the Chief Guest, the Vice President lauded the university’s achievements, mentioning Dr. Singh Pal’s name multiple times during his 45-minute address – recalling their shared parliamentary experience from 1989 and openly acknowledging his contributions. He shared anecdotes from their time together in Parliament, expressing heartfelt gratitude for Dr. Pal’s work.

Immediately after stepping off the stage, the Vice President’s gaze fell upon Dr. Pal seated in the audience. He promptly approached him and embraced him. The two leaders engaged in private conversation for approximately five minutes, during which both men became visibly emotional, with tears welling in their eyes. The scene was deeply moving for those present, a rare display of sentiment.

Collapse Following the Embrace

As the embrace concluded, the Vice President suddenly stumbled and fell to the ground. Panic ensued. Security personnel and officials swiftly summoned a medical team, who provided immediate first aid on the spot. While there was no indication of a serious condition, the Vice President was subsequently taken to the Raj Bhavan, where he was advised to rest.

Vice President Dhankhar arrived in Haldwani this morning, where Governor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Gurmeet Singh welcomed him at the Army helipad. Cabinet Minister, Ms. Rekha Arya, MP Mr. Ajay Bhatt, Mayor Mr. Gajraj Bisht, Kumaun Commissioner Mr. Deepak Rawat, IGP Ms. Riddhim Agarwal, District Magistrate Ms. Vandana, and SSP Mr. Prahlad Narayan Meena, along with numerous administrative and political figures, extended a grand welcome to the Vice President.
