Renu Kushwaha Joins RJD, Bolstering Tejashwi Yadav's Campaign

Bihar’s political landscape is once again experiencing significant activity as former Minister and Member of Parliament, Renu Kushwaha, is set to join the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), with support from party leader Tejashwi Yadav.

Patna: Bihar’s political scene is undergoing a shift. Former Minister and former Member of Parliament from Khagaria, Renu Kushwaha, is formally joining the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). The RJD’s leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav, will officially induct her into the party. Renu Kushwaha’s entry into the RJD is expected to provide the party with renewed strength and political momentum ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections.

A Political Journey: Renu’s Diverse Background

Renu Kushwaha is a well-known figure in Bihar’s political arena. Her political career, spanning multiple parties, has now culminated in her joining the RJD. She has been a part of prominent parties such as the BJP, JDU, and LJP. Her entry into the RJD is being viewed as a key strategic move. Renu Kushwaha has served as a three-time MLA and once as a Member of Parliament. In the 1999 Lok Sabha elections, she secured victory on a JDU ticket, defeating the wife of RJD stalwart RK Rana. Subsequently, she also held ministerial positions in the Bihar government twice.

Entry into RJD with Supporters

RJD’s spokesperson, Shakti Singh Yadav, stated that Renu Kushwaha and her husband, Raghavendra Kushwaha (a prominent political figure in his own right), along with hundreds of their supporters, will be joining the party. Several senior RJD leaders will also be present on the stage during the occasion. Experts believe that the Kushwaha community holds a b influence in Khagaria and surrounding areas, and Renu Kushwaha’s entry could provide the RJD with a direct advantage in terms of social equations.

Tejashwi Yadav’s Criticism of Nitish Kumar

Prior to Renu Kushwaha’s formal induction, Tejashwi Yadav activated his social media presence with a sharp critique of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Tejashwi wrote: “With the strengthening of the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), the people’s determination for change, and witnessing direct defeat in the elections, the ‘unconscious’ Chief Minister, whose corrupt cabinet is now willing to say and declare anything, is in a state of mental absence.”

Tejashwi’s statement clearly pointed to Nitish Kumar’s government being hasty in its announcements and disconnected from reality. He sarcastically remarked that the government could now make announcements about building separate schools in every house, separate sunrises in every village, and separate airports in every locality. Tejashwi also questioned Nitish Kumar’s political credibility, stating that a Chief Minister who has taken oath five times in five years cannot be trusted.
