GATE 2026: The registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 begins today, August 25, 2025. Eligibility for GATE 2026
The eligibility details for candidates applying for GATE 2026 are as follows.
- Candidates who are currently in the third year or a more advanced year of any degree program are eligible to apply.
- Candidates who have completed a degree program from a recognized institute in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, or humanities are also eligible.
- Certificate-holding candidates must ensure that their degree is approved by MoE, AICTE, UGC, or UPSC as equivalent to BE/BTech/BArch/BPlanning, etc.
- Candidates who have obtained a degree from a recognized institute abroad are also eligible to apply.
Who Can Apply
Any candidate who holds a graduate or postgraduate level degree in science, engineering, or technology can apply for GATE 2026. In addition, students who have not yet completed their final year examination can also apply. For this, they will have to provide confirmation of completion of the examination at the time of application.
Application Fees
To apply for GATE 2026, general and OBC candidates will have to pay an application fee of Rs 1500. The application fee for SC/ST/PwD candidates is Rs 750. The fee can only be submitted through online mode.
