ICC ODI Rankings: Shubman Gill Leads, Rohit Sharma Climbs, and Babar Azam Drops

The recently concluded ODI series between West Indies and Pakistan has led to significant changes in the ICC ODI rankings. Notably, former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has suffered a major setback in the rankings.

Sports News: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has recently released the new ODI cricket rankings. This time, former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has faced a drop, while Indian team's opening batsman Shubman Gill has maintained his number 1 position, and captain Rohit Sharma has jumped to the second spot without playing a match.

Shubman Gill remains the Number 1 ODI Batsman

In the latest ICC ODI rankings, India's opening batsman Shubman Gill remains at the top spot. His current rating is 784. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as Gill has not played any ODI matches recently. Despite this, his number 1 position remains unchallenged. Shubman Gill's consistency and excellent performance over the past years have propelled him to this position. His batting average and consistency in scoring runs have helped provide a b start to the Indian team.

Indian team's ODI captain Rohit Sharma has also benefited in these rankings. Rohit Sharma's rating is now 756, and he has overtaken Babar Azam to reach the number 2 spot. Rohit Sharma has not played any international ODI matches recently, but he gained this advantage due to Babar Azam's weak performance. Team India has not played an ODI since the Champions Trophy, yet captain Rohit Sharma has climbed in the rankings.

Babar Azam suffers a setback

Pakistan's former captain Babar Azam was previously ranked second. However, his performance in the recent ODI series against the West Indies was weak. In this series, Babar's average dropped, and his rating is now 751. If Babar Azam's performance continues to decline in this manner, Indian star Virat Kohli could overtake him. Currently, Virat Kohli is at number 4 with a rating of 736.

Top 10 Batsmen's Standings

  • Shubman Gill (India) – 784 rating
