The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nationwide weather alert, forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning across 19 states and Union Territories on June 5, 2026. Wind speeds in several regions may reach 70–80 kmph, while some hilly and coastal areas could experience even ber winds.
With the monsoon becoming active, weather conditions are changing rapidly across multiple parts of the country, raising the possibility of disruptions to daily life and travel.
According to the latest IMD forecast, heavy rainfall and storm warnings have been issued for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain and b winds are expected across these regions.

Rainfall may lead to waterlogging and traffic disruptions in some areas.
Heavy rainfall is expected in several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut, Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Mathura, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Sitapur and Shahjahanpur.

The IMD has advised people to avoid open spaces and weak structures.
Warnings for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms have been issued for several districts of Bihar, including Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur and Purnia.

Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are expected to receive heavy rainfall, with the possibility of hailstorms and landslides in some areas.

The IMD has advised travellers to exercise caution in hilly regions.
Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab are also under warning for b winds and rainfall.

- Punjab: 50–55 kmph winds
Temperatures may decline in several cities, including Jaipur, Bhopal and Amritsar.
Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms have been forecast for West Bengal and Assam.

Lightning strikes and waterlogging are possible in several districts.
Kerala and Tamil Nadu are expected to experience heavy rainfall and b winds.

High waves are likely along coastal areas.
The latest IMD alert indicates that the next 15–48 hours could bring heavy rainfall, b winds and lightning activity across several parts of the country as monsoon conditions remain active.
