Weather conditions are expected to change again across several parts of India. A low-pressure area is developing over southwest Rajasthan, which may affect Rajasthan and several other states. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rain, thunderstorms and b winds have been forecast across 20 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, during the next 15 hours.
Amid weakening southwest monsoon conditions in India, weather activity is expected to change across several states. According to the IMD forecast, heavy rain, thunderstorms and b winds may occur in several parts of the country on September 17. Wind speeds in some areas are expected to reach up to 80 kilometres per hour.
The low-pressure area developing over southwest Rajasthan, along with other weather systems, may lead to rainfall activity in different states.
The weather system is expected to affect Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and several other states. The weather department has also issued precautionary advice for fishermen venturing into the sea.
According to the IMD, rainfall and thunderstorms may occur on September 17 in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Gujarat, Odisha, Punjab, Assam, Tripura, Nagaland, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Rainfall intensity and wind speeds are expected to vary across different areas.
The low-pressure area developing over southwest Rajasthan has been identified as one of the main factors behind the expected change in weather conditions.
A warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms has been issued for Ajmer, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jodhpur, Bharatpur, Pali, Tonk, Alwar, Dungarpur and Didwana in Rajasthan. Wind gusts in these areas may reach 50 to 55 kilometres per hour.
In Jaipur, the maximum temperature on September 17 is forecast at 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be 25 degrees Celsius.
Light rain and thunderstorms are possible in Delhi on September 17. Wind speeds may remain between 20 and 30 kilometres per hour. The maximum temperature in the capital is expected to be around 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may remain around 24 degrees Celsius.
A yellow alert for rain and thunderstorms has been issued for Gautam Buddh Nagar, Gonda, Azamgarh, Jhansi, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad, Bahraich, Agra and Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. In Lucknow, the maximum temperature is expected to be 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature 26 degrees Celsius.
A warning for heavy rain has been issued for Chhindwara, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Dhar, Harda, Dewas, Umaria, Mandla, Seoni, Balaghat, Guna and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. Winds in these areas may reach speeds of 50 to 55 kilometres per hour.
In Bhopal, the maximum temperature is expected to be 29 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature 23 degrees Celsius.
Rain and b winds are expected in areas of Himachal Pradesh including Shimla, Manali, Chamba, Kullu, Mandi, Solan, Kinnaur, Una, Lahaul-Spiti and Kangra. In Manali, the maximum temperature may remain at 12 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature may fall to 4 degrees Celsius.
A warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms has been issued for Haridwar, Rishikesh, Nainital, Almora and Chamoli in Uttarakhand. Strong winds of up to 80 kilometres per hour are expected in some areas.
Rain and thunderstorms are possible in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Deoghar, Dumka, Dhanbad, Bokaro and other districts of Jharkhand. In Ranchi, the maximum temperature is expected to be 29 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature 22 degrees Celsius.
An alert for rain and b winds has also been issued for Udhampur, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Jammu, Poonch, Anantnag and Reasi in Jammu and Kashmir. In Srinagar, the maximum temperature may remain at 21 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature may fall to 12 degrees Celsius.
