Furthermore, the commitment to continue dialogue through existing military and diplomatic channels and maintain peace on the border was reiterated.

The Ministry of External Affairs described the meeting as friendly and cordial. The Ministry stated that this 23rd meeting was held on October 25, 2025, and it was the first General-level mechanism meeting in the Western Sector after the 24th round of Special Representative talks held on August 19, 2025. The Ministry further informed that both sides noted the progress made since the 22nd round of meeting held in October 2024 and shared that peace and tranquility have been maintained in the India-China border areas.

Commitment to Maintain Stability

It was decided in the meeting that both countries would continue to use existing mechanisms to resolve any ground issues on the border. Both sides emphasized the necessity of maintaining peace through mutual understanding and cooperation.

2020 Galwan Conflict

This meeting is part of the efforts to de-escalate tensions following the 2020 Galwan Valley conflict. In that incident, soldiers from both sides were killed, leading bilateral relations to an historical low. Since then, India and China have consistently held high-level military talks.
