India Weather Alert: IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Warnings Across Multiple States

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings of heavy rainfall and weather instability in several states due to a low-pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal. This weather system is expected to activate the monsoon in South and Central India. Simultaneously, humidity and heat are also likely to increase in North India.

Weather Update: According to the India Meteorological Department, due to the low-pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in many parts of the country for the next few days. This system is likely to cross the coasts of South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh by the afternoon of August 19, changing pressure in the next 12 hours. 

Due to its impact, the monsoon will remain active in the southern peninsula and central India, while heavy rainfall is also expected in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in the next few days.

Impact of Low Pressure in Bay of Bengal

The Meteorological Department said that due to the low-pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal, heavy rainfall is expected on the coasts of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh for the next few days. Due to the pressure changing within 12 hours of this system, it is likely to cross the coasts of South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh by the afternoon of August 19.

Due to its effect, the monsoon will remain active in the southern peninsular and central India. Weather experts say that during this period, events like heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and sometimes localized flooding may occur in many areas.

Impact of Humidity and Heat in UP-Bihar 

Due to the weakening of the monsoon in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, humidity and heat have made people miserable. There is no possibility of widespread rainfall in any area of the state for the next 72 hours. The effect of b sunshine during the day and sticky heat at night will remain. Light to moderate rainfall may occur in some areas of western UP between August 22 and 24, while heavy rainfall is predicted in the eastern parts from August 21 to 24.

7 to 10 cm of rainfall has been recorded in the state in the last 24 hours. Due to the weakening of the monsoon, humidity and heat will remain in the weather. There is a possibility of heavy rainfall from August 20 to 24.

Delhi Weather, Heavy Rain Alert in Uttarakhand

There has been no significant change in temperature in Delhi-NCR in the last 24 hours. Light rainfall was recorded in some areas. According to the Meteorological Department, the sky will remain cloudy tomorrow and there may be light rainfall at some places. Due to continuous heavy rains in Uttarakhand, a situation of landslides and waterlogging in houses has arisen in many areas. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rainfall in the state for the next seven days.

Condition of East and Central India

Odisha and Chhattisgarh: Possibility of extremely heavy rainfall in southern parts on August 19. Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Bihar: Continuous heavy rainfall between August 19 and 24. This rainfall is likely to particularly affect agriculture and the water levels of rivers. Despite the weakening of the monsoon in the north-eastern states, heavy rainfall will continue.

Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected from August 20 to 24. The Meteorological Department has advised people living near riverbanks to remain alert. There is also a danger of heavy rainfall in western India.
