West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her displeasure over the removal of names from the voter list. She attacked the BJP, saying that Bengalis are being persecuted and will be jailed if their names are missing.

During a massive march organized by the Trinamool Congress in Kolkata, she said that those whose names are not on the voter list will be sent to jail. She appealed to the people to get their names included in the voter list, even if they have to leave their work for it.
Protest against Atrocities on Bengalis
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee bly protested against the alleged atrocities being committed against Bengali-speaking migrants in BJP-ruled states. She said that Bengalis are being called foreigners and Bangladeshis and being put in jail. She questioned the central government, asking whether Bengal is not a part of the country. She emphasized that she will not tolerate any atrocities against Bengalis.

CM Mamata alleged that the Election Commission, at the behest of the BJP, is removing the names of the people of Bengal from the voter list. She also said that Bengali voters are being targeted while sitting in other states. Mamata accused the Election Commission of implementing the BJP's agenda, saying that it is a dangerous sign for democracy.
Trinamool's Protest March
On this issue, the Trinamool Congress took out a protest march in Kolkata, which was led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself. Her nephew and party's national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, along with many senior leaders, were present in this march. Addressing a public meeting at the end of the march, Mamata clearly said that no attempt to intimidate Bengalis would succeed.
Questions on Voter List
Mamata Banerjee said that it is clear that people are being harassed in the name of a Special Intensive Revision of the voter list. She said that the job of the Election Commission is not to determine citizenship, but to conduct fair elections. She appealed to the public to check the status of their names on the Election Commission's website and, if their names are not there, to fill out the form and get them added immediately.
Respect for Every State, Every Language
In her speech, the Chief Minister also made it clear that the Trinamool Congress respects the people of every state and every language. She said, "When Hindi-speaking people were expelled from Maharashtra, we were the first to protest. We talk about the safety and respect of not only Bengalis but all Indians."
Emotional Appeal of Mamata Banerjee
Mamata made an emotional appeal to the people present in the meeting, saying, "This is the time to unite. We will not let anyone be deprived of being a citizen of this country. We will not allow the conspiracy to send Bengalis to detention camps to succeed. We will not support the atmosphere of hatred that the BJP is creating."
Reaction and Support from the Opposition
On this issue, many opposition parties have supported Mamata Banerjee. Especially AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and senior Congress leaders have already expressed concern over such activities. Questions have also been raised regarding the revision of the voter list in Bihar, Assam, and many northeastern states.
