Pakistan's Prime Minister Denies Political Instability Rumors

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has dismissed rumors of political instability, stating that there are no disagreements between President Asif Ali Zardari and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, nor are there any plans for resignations or changes in positions.

PAK: Recent discussions in Pakistan suggested that preparations were underway to obtain the resignation of current President Asif Ali Zardari and that Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir might replace him. This rumor had created a stir in political circles and also led to discussions in the media.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's Strong Statement

Addressing these speculations, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif bly refuted them, calling them completely baseless. In an interview with 'The News', he said, "General Asim Munir has neither expressed any desire to become president nor has any such plan been made. Our mutual relations are based on trust, transparency, and the common goal of Pakistan's progress."

Sharif further stated that these rumors were entirely unfounded. He also clarified that his government has b and stable relations with both Zardari and Munir.

Pakistan's Interior Minister Accuses 'Foreign Forces'

Just before Shehbaz Sharif's statement, Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also dismissed these rumors. He stated on X (formerly Twitter), "Behind the false and misleading campaign against Zardari, Sharif, and Munir, there are some foreign forces."

According to Naqvi, "It is clear that there has been no talk of the president's resignation, nor is there any plan to make the army chief the president. Such conspiracies are being carried out to destabilize Pakistan, and foreign agencies may be involved."

Asif Zardari and Asim Munir's Terms

General Asim Munir was appointed as Pakistan's Army Chief in 2022. Initially, his term was for three years, which was later extended to five years by the government. On the other hand, Asif Ali Zardari was appointed as Pakistan's President last year. He received this position in exchange for the political support he provided to Shehbaz Sharif in making him the Prime Minister.
