Parliament Deadlock Eases as Government Agrees to 'Operation Sindoor' Discussion

Hopes for Resolution as Parliament Deadlock Eases. Government Concedes to Opposition Demand for Special Discussion on 'Operation Sindoor'. Discussion Likely to Commence Monday.

Deadlock in Parliament: The ongoing tussle between the government and the opposition appears to be nearing an end. Consensus has been reached between both sides regarding a discussion on 'Operation Sindoor' in Parliament. This discussion is likely to begin on Monday, potentially clearing the way for the normal functioning of the House.

Speaker's Meeting Proves Decisive

The consensus was reached at an all-party meeting convened by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Friday. The meeting was attended by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and other senior leaders from various parties. The aim of the meeting was to end the deadlock in Parliament and restore normal business.

Opposition Demanded a Special Discussion, Not Under Rule 193

The opposition's primary demand was that the discussion on 'Operation Sindoor' be held in a special format, and not under Rule 193. Discussions under Rule 193 tend to focus on the government's initiatives and achievements. The opposition did not want the discussion to be limited to praise for the government regarding this operation, but rather sought an open discussion on its various aspects.

What is the 'Operation Sindoor' Matter?

'Operation Sindoor' was a special operation by the Government of India to safely bring back Indian citizens stranded abroad. The government has presented it as a major achievement. The opposition wants to discuss this topic and bring to light its political and strategic aspects.

Revision of Voter List in Bihar Also Under Discussion

Another important issue raised at the meeting was the ongoing special intensive revision campaign of the voter list in Bihar. The opposition alleged that this process could be biased from an electoral perspective. Rahul Gandhi raised the question in the meeting as to when the serious issue of voter list revision in Bihar would be discussed in Parliament.

During the all-party meeting, there was also discussion regarding the allegations against Allahabad High Court Judge Yashwant Verma and his potential impeachment. The opposition is demanding a detailed discussion on this matter within Parliament.

Opposition's Outrage Evident Outside Parliament as Well

The opposition's protests continue not only inside Parliament but also outside. On Friday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge joined the India Bloc MPs in their protest. This demonstration was held for the fifth consecutive day at the Makar Dwar of Parliament.

March Began from Gandhi Statue

During the demonstration, the MPs started a march from the statue of Mahatma Gandhi located in the Parliament complex. Several senior leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi joined the protest. Everyone held posters and banners that read - "Sir, attack on democracy." Through these slogans, the opposition accused the government of weakening democracy.

The opposition alleges that the government is trying to influence the democratic process by tampering with the voter list in Bihar. They say that this is a direct violation of voter rights and that there should be a detailed analysis of it in Parliament.
