The election process for the posts of mayor, chairperson and president in 305 urban local bodies across Rajasthan will begin on September 15, 2026. The nomination process will continue until September 16, while voting for the posts will be held on September 21. Repolling will be conducted at 10 booths in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota and Suket on September 16.
According to the schedule issued by the State Election Commission, nominations for the posts of president, chairperson and mayor in 305 urban local bodies will begin at 10:30 am on September 15. Candidates can file their nominations until 3 pm on September 16.
The nomination papers will be scrutinised on September 17. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until 3 pm on September 18, after which the final list of candidates will be clear.
Voting for the president, chairperson and mayor posts will be held on September 21 from 10 am to 2 pm. Elected councillors of the respective urban local bodies will vote in these elections.
The election process for the post of mayor will begin in seven municipal corporations of Rajasthan. These are Alwar, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Udaipur, Ajmer, Pali and Bhilwara.
The nomination process for chairperson posts will also begin in 47 municipal councils. These include Chomu, Shahpura, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Tijara, Khairthal, Bhiwadi, Karauli, Kuchaman City, Didwana, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, Chittorgarh, Banswara, Jhalawar, Bundi, Baran, Jalore, Jhunjhunu, Fatehpur (Sikar), Sawai Madhopur, Dholpur, Sujangarh, Churu, Kotputli, Beawar and Nagaur.
The other municipal councils are Kishangarh, Pushkar, Tonk, Behror, Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Sardarshahar, Gangapur City, Sikar, Sirohi, Nimbahera, Rajsamand, Makrana, Hindaun City, Dausa, Lalsot, Deeg, Balotra, Phalodi and Salumber.
The nomination papers in these municipal councils will be scrutinised on September 17, while September 18 will be the last date for withdrawal of nominations.
Under the State Election Commission's schedule, the election process for municipal president posts will begin in 251 municipalities. Candidates will be able to file their nominations within the prescribed period.
The election schedule for four urban local bodies has been kept separate. Repolling will be held at 10 booths in Jaipur and Jodhpur municipal corporations, Kota municipal corporation and Suket municipality.
According to the State Election Commission, the results at these booths were affected due to technical problems during the voting or counting process. The commission has therefore decided to conduct repolling.
Repolling at the 10 booths will be held on September 16 from 7 am to 6 pm. Counting of these votes will begin at 8 am on September 17.
The further process for the election of presidents in these four urban local bodies will be determined after repolling and counting are completed.
The decision to conduct repolling at the 10 booths in the four urban local bodies was taken following technical problems related to EVMs. The results from these booths were held up because of technical issues during the counting process.
The Election Commission decided to conduct repolling for results affected by technical problems in the election process. September 16 has been fixed for the repolling.
The votes will be counted on September 17. The final results for the concerned urban local bodies will become clear after this process is completed.
In the 305 urban local bodies where the election process is beginning, voting will be held on September 21 after completion of the nomination and withdrawal process. The voting period has been fixed from 10 am to 2 pm.
The elected councillors will elect the president, chairperson and mayor in these elections. The support of councillors will therefore determine the outcome of the elections.
