A chilling incident has come to light from the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh. A farmer allegedly murdered his wife due to a domestic dispute and buried her in a field, concealing the evidence by planting a vegetable crop over it. Subsequently, the accused fled with his minor daughter. After a painstaking nine-month investigation, the police arrested him from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
This sensational case occurred in the Sohaghi police station area of Rewa district, specifically in the Jail Road area, where 59-year-old Devmuni Manjhi lived with his wife, Ramvati Manjhi, and daughter. Devmuni cultivated vegetables, and his wife and daughter assisted him in the work. However, a domestic dispute escalated to the point of murder.
Death by Pesticide
According to SDOP Udit Mishra, Devmuni poisoned his wife with a pesticide, leading to her death. He then buried the body in a pit in the field. To avoid suspicion, he used a tractor to level the ground over the grave and planted vegetables, covering the burial site. After committing the crime, the accused fled with his daughter.
The incident is reported to have taken place on October 11, 2024. When Ramvati went missing, her son, Abhilash Manjhi, went to the field. When he inquired about his mother, his sister said she had gone to Prayagraj. After Ramvati remained missing for several days, the family filed a missing person report at the Sohaghi police station.

During the investigation, the police excavated the field and recovered Ramvati's body. The case then changed to murder, and the police began searching for the accused. Based on continuous technical surveillance and input, the police finally arrested Devmuni from the Ghurpur area of Prayagraj.
