Jammu-Kashmir: Security agencies' actions against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified. The State Investigation Agency (SIA) has filed a chargesheet against 11 accused, including Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin, in a major operation against an organized narco-terrorism network. The case was registered in 2022, and during the investigation, a conspiracy to smuggle drugs from Pakistan and raise funds for terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir came to light.

Case registered in 2022

SIA Jammu registered this case in 2022. Investigations revealed that a well-organized network was smuggling drugs into Jammu and Kashmir. This network was actively involved in providing funds to terrorist organizations. The crucial roles of terrorist associates, couriers, and drug dealers came to light.

Names included in the chargesheet

The name of Syed Mohammad Yusuf Shah, also known as Syed Salahuddin, the supreme commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, is the most prominent in the chargesheet. He is currently operating his activities from Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Besides him, the chargesheet includes the names of Basharat Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Budgam; Khalid Hussain of Rajouri; Mohammad Shoukat of Poonch; Javid Ahmad Rather of Budgam; Manzoor Ahmad and Asif Rehman Reshi of Srinagar; Harpreet Singh, Chain Singh, Sahil Kumar, and Sandeepak Singh of Jammu.

Funding terrorism through drugs

The SIA investigation revealed that the entire network was smuggling drugs and using the proceeds to fund terrorist activities. This money was sent to agents active in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir under the instructions of terrorists present in Pakistan.

Local youth targeted

The investigation also revealed that the accused were not only smuggling drugs but also delivering them to local youth. This was not only harming the youth but also trying to spread instability in society. Some of the accused appointed others as agents to sell drugs.

Conspiracy to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir

According to the SIA, this network is part of a major conspiracy to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir. The Pakistan-sponsored terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen had adopted a strategy of targeting the youth through drugs to spread instability in the region.
