The 2025 Bihar Assembly elections are poised to become even more captivating with the active political strides of Tej Pratap Yadav. The elder son of Lalu-Rabri, Tej Pratap Yadav, has taken steps to forge his own political identity, separate from the RJD.
Patna: Observing the political journey of former minister Tej Pratap Yadav is proving to be intriguing for political analysts. The manner in which he has begun to establish his political hold after distancing himself from the RJD clearly demonstrates that Tej Pratap enters politics in accordance with his nature and strategy. His approach is not one that any political party should underestimate.
If his path is viewed as a story, it is akin to "Slowly-slowly wins the race." Tej Pratap is gradually, but consistently, strengthening his position in the electoral arena. Examining his political trajectory, it appears to be steadily upward.
Tej Pratap Yadav Forms New Party
For the 2025 Assembly elections, Tej Pratap Yadav has announced his new party, 'Janshakti Janata Dal'. This move could prove to be a significant turning point for him, enabling independent politics separate from the RJD. According to reports, Tej Pratap Yadav has registered the party with the Election Commission. The party has been granted the flute as its election symbol. Prior to this, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Tej Pratap's close associate, Balendra Das, contested under the banner of the same party. Tej Pratap Yadav has already declared that he will contest from the Mahua Assembly constituency, and he appears confident in securing the trust of the people of Mahua.
In the first week of August, Tej Pratap Yadav formulated a strategy to contest the Bihar Assembly elections by forming an alliance of five parties. This alliance includes:
- Vikas Vanchit Insaan Party (VVIP)
- Bhojpuriya Jan Morcha (BJM)
- Pragatisheel Janata Party (PJP)
- Wajib Adhikar Party (WAP)
- Sanyukt Kisan Vikas Party (SKVP)
Furthermore, Tej Pratap Yadav has also extended an alliance proposal to AIMIM. His potential alliance with Asaduddin Owaisi, who previously challenged RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav in the Seemanchal region, could create a new dynamic in Bihar politics.
Tej Pratap's Strategic Announcement
Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, Tej Pratap Yadav has made it clear that leaders and MLAs who have been overlooked by Tejashwi Yadav are welcome in the Janshakti Janata Dal. Under this policy, he first invited Asaduddin Owaisi's party. Owaisi is already displeased with the RJD, and four of his MLAs were separated from the RJD.
Tej Pratap Yadav's move is also a signal to those RJD leaders who are currently dissatisfied with the party. He has a potential area of 243 assembly seats, which gives him strength in political strategy. Senior journalist Praveen Bagi believes that Tej Pratap Yadav's move could prove to be an attractive option for leaders upset with Tejashwi Yadav. The rift between the two brothers has deepened, and leaders who want to harm Tejashwi Yadav may side with Tej Pratap.
