Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by four wickets in the second semi-final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 to secure a place in the final. The match was played in Dubai on Friday, September 11, with Sri Lanka recovering from an early setback to chase down Pakistan’s target.
Pakistan, after winning the toss and batting first, scored 130 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Fatima Sana played an important role in the innings, scoring 47 runs from 36 balls with four fours and two sixes.
Pakistan added useful runs in the final overs after Sri Lanka’s bowlers attempted to control the scoring rate during the middle overs. Pakistan eventually set Sri Lanka a target of 131 runs.
Sri Lanka’s chase began poorly as the team lost two important wickets for just five runs. The innings then came under further pressure when the third wicket fell at 31 runs and the fourth at 34 runs.
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana also made an impact with the ball, taking four wickets and continuing to put pressure on Sri Lanka during the run chase.

Harshitha Samarawickrama and Kavisha Dilhari then stabilised Sri Lanka’s innings. The pair added 67 runs from 59 balls for the fifth wicket, changing the course of the match.
Harshitha scored 31 runs, including two fours, and helped Sri Lanka recover from its early difficulties while moving closer to the target.
Sri Lanka lost its fifth wicket at 100 runs and its sixth wicket at 109 runs. Pakistan, however, could not capitalise on the opportunity to regain control of the chase.
After the sixth wicket fell, Sri Lanka needed only a small number of runs to win. The team added an unbeaten 25-run partnership for the seventh wicket from just 10 balls and reached the target in 18.4 overs.
Sri Lanka won the match by four wickets and advanced to the final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026.
The title match will be played between India and Sri Lanka in Dubai on Sunday, September 13. India reached the final after defeating Bangladesh in the first semi-final. The final will be India’s 10th Women’s Asia Cup final.
