Reports circulating on social media on Wednesday morning triggered widespread concern after claims emerged about an alleged aircraft accident in Baramati, Maharashtra, involving Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
According to unverified media reports, an aircraft said to be carrying Ajit Pawar met with an accident while attempting to land in Baramati at around 8:45 am. The reports claimed that the incident occurred during landing at the airstrip. However, there has been no official confirmation so far regarding the cause of the incident or Ajit Pawar’s condition.
Preliminary and unconfirmed information suggested that Ajit Pawar was travelling to Baramati in connection with election-related programmes when the alleged accident took place. Some reports further claimed that a fire broke out in the aircraft after the incident, with smoke seen in the surrounding area.
Following information about the alleged incident, local administration and police teams reached the spot. Reports also indicated that the fire department attempted to control the fire. Detailed information regarding relief and rescue operations has not yet been made public.
