The Yogi government launched a major crackdown on illegal encroachments, madrasas, mazars, and mosques in Uttar Pradesh districts bordering Nepal. This operation is being conducted with a focus on security.
UP News: The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has once again taken b action against illegal encroachments and unauthorized religious institutions. Administration in districts bordering Nepal has taken strict measures, removing mazars, madrasas, and mosques. This action is aimed at making the 0-15 kilometer radius of the India-Nepal border encroachment-free.
Why is this campaign being conducted?
The Nepal border region is considered sensitive. There is a constant threat of infiltration from Bangladesh and Rohingya. For security reasons, it has become necessary to prevent any kind of illegal occupation or activity in this area. Keeping this in mind, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the administration to take strict action against encroachments in the border region.
Which districts saw action?
This special campaign was primarily conducted in these districts:
- Shravasti
- Bahraich
- Balrampur
- Siddharthnagar
- Maharajganj
In all these districts, the administration identified and demolished or sealed illegal encroachments.
Action against illegal madrasa in Shravasti
Shravasti District Magistrate Ajay Kumar Dwivedi reported that an illegal madrasa built on government land in Rahmatugaon, Jamunha tehsil, was demolished. Four other unauthorized madrasas were sealed. A total of five such illegally operating madrasas were identified in the district.
Bulldozer action on a mosque in Bahraich
Bahraich District Magistrate Monika Rani stated that the administration demolished an illegal mosque. So far, 171 illegal encroachments have been removed in the district, located in highly sensitive areas near the Nepal border. The administration has clarified that action against such illegal structures will continue.
Major action in Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, and Maharajganj as well
Siddharthnagar: An illegal madrasa built on plot number 515 in the Shohratgarh area was removed by the encroacher after receiving a notice.
Balrampur: An illegal mazar built on forest department land in village Ratnawa was demolished.
Maharajganj: A mazar built on reserved fallow land for market expansion in Siswa alias Khoria village, Nauatanwa tehsil, was removed by the administration.
Government's clear message: Illegal constructions will not be tolerated
The Yogi government has made it clear that no illegal religious sites, madrasas, or other institutions will be tolerated within a 15-kilometer radius of the Nepal border. The administration has been instructed to maintain constant surveillance and take timely action.
