Yogi Government Provides Major Relief to Women. Stamp duty exemption of 1% on property purchase up to ₹1 crore in the name of women in Uttar Pradesh. This will promote female ownership.
CM Yogi Gift to Woman: The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has taken a significant step towards empowering women economically. Now, a 1% exemption on stamp duty will be provided on property purchases up to ₹1 crore in the name of women in the state. Previously, this benefit was applicable only to properties worth up to ₹10 lakh. This decision aims to promote female ownership and strengthen the Mission Shakti campaign.
Boost to Property Purchases in Women's Names
The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has taken a crucial decision in the interest of women. Now, if a property is registered in a woman's name and its value is up to ₹1 crore, it will receive a 1 percent exemption on stamp duty. Previously, this exemption was only available on properties up to ₹10 lakh, providing a maximum relief of ₹10,000.
Now, the government has increased this limit to ₹1 crore, which will particularly benefit middle-class women. The government believes that this step is a major effort towards making women property owners.
Decision Made in Cabinet Meeting
This decision was taken during the state cabinet meeting held at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A total of 37 proposals were agreed upon in the meeting. Labour Minister Anil Rajbhar stated that this decision will increase women's confidence and make them more economically capable.
He said that the government's aim is for women to become property owners and increase their respect and participation in society. This step is not only economic empowerment but also significant towards social empowerment.
Mission Shakti to be Strengthened
This decision is also linked to the state government's 'Mission Shakti' scheme. Under this campaign, several schemes are being run to make women self-reliant and enable them to make decisions. This decision to exempt stamp duty is a part of the same effort.
In Budget 2024, the central government also mentioned reducing stamp duty on documents executed in favor of women. This decision by the Uttar Pradesh government is a concrete step in the direction of that policy.
Increase Expected in Property Registrations
The state government expects that property registrations in the name of women will accelerate after this decision. Earlier, properties were mostly registered in the name of men, but now there will be an increased trend towards property registration in the name of women.
Promotion of Technical Development in the State
In the cabinet meeting, not only was stamp duty exemption given for women, but also an important decision was taken in the technical field. The cabinet has approved the proposal to give 10 hectares of land in the Lucknow node of the Uttar Pradesh Defense Industrial Corridor to the Instruments Research and Development Establishment (IRDE), Dehradun, a constituent laboratory of the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), at an annual lease rent of one rupee.
An IR Detection Technology Center will be established on this land, which will not only promote indigenous defense technology but also create new employment opportunities.
New Employment Opportunities
The proposed project by IRDE will establish a semiconductor technology-based IR detector manufacturing facility. Through this, India will be included in the list of select countries that indigenously develop this technology.
The project will provide direct employment to approximately 150 engineers and technical staff, while more than 500 people will be indirectly employed. The Uttar Pradesh government has described it as a major step towards the 'Make in India' campaign and indigenization of the defense sector.
New Direction for Women's Participation
According to the government, this exemption in stamp duty will not only provide economic relief but also involve women in the decision-making process. When women own property, they will also participate more actively in the financial planning of the family.
