Uttarakhand Police and the Special Task Force (STF) will release a new episode of the cyber awareness initiative “Chaukanni Chachi” today. The episode will focus on cyber fraud linked to Aadhaar cards and measures citizens can take to protect themselves from such scams.
The new episode, being released under the “Chaukanni Chachi” initiative of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), will provide detailed information on cyber crimes related to Aadhaar cards. According to the police, the episode will explain how cyber criminals misuse Aadhaar-related information to target individuals.
The programme will also guide citizens on precautionary measures to safeguard personal information and documents linked to their Aadhaar cards.
According to Uttarakhand Police, “Chaukanni Chachi” presents cyber security topics in an engaging and easy-to-understand manner. Officials said this approach has helped the campaign gain popularity among the public.
The programme aims to increase awareness of cyber security by explaining technical subjects in simple language. Police officials said awareness remains the most effective means of preventing cyber crime.
Police officials said that with the growing use of digital services, Aadhaar has become one of the country’s most important identity documents. As Aadhaar is widely used in banking, government schemes and various online services, cases of fraud related to it have also been increasing.
Officials advised citizens not to share their Aadhaar number, OTPs or personal information with unknown individuals. They said even a small lapse could result in financial loss or identity theft.
Under the “Chaukanni Chachi” series, new episodes are released every week on different cyber security topics. These episodes cover subjects including online fraud, fake calls, digital payment scams, social media fraud and data security.
Uttarakhand Police, the STF and the Cyber Police are actively involved in the campaign. Officials said such awareness programmes are designed to inform citizens about evolving methods used by cyber criminals and encourage safer digital practices.
