Yamuna River Flood: Man Rescued After Clinging to Tree for 5 Hours

30-year-old youth swept away in b Yamuna current, but remained safe for 5 hours by holding onto tree branches near the iron bridge. He was rescued with the help of NDRF and local divers. More than 40 people have been safely evacuated from the Yamuna region due to floods so far.

New Delhi: A 30-year-old youth was swept away in the b current of the Yamuna river on Thursday afternoon. By the time he reached near the iron bridge, the youth found refuge in the branches of a half-submerged tree in the river. He clung to the branches, climbed the tree, and pleaded for help for about 5 hours. During this time, divers from the Boat Club and the NDRF team were informed. After a rescue operation, the youth was safely brought out and admitted to the hospital.

The youth was identified as Raj. Sanjay's name prominently emerged among the volunteers who saved his life. This incident highlighted the danger posed by the rising water level in the Yamuna region.

Youth Swept Away Near Yamuna Bazaar

According to the staff of the Yamuna Boat Club, the youth was swept away in the b current near Yamuna Bazaar around 12 PM on Thursday. Carried by the b river current, he reached near the iron bridge and climbed a half-submerged tree by holding onto its branches.

For several hours, the youth sat on the tree and signaled for help. People nearby kept recording videos of the incident, but no one noticed the youth. Eventually, after seeing the video, the police and NDRF team were informed, and the youth was safely rescued.

NDRF and Yamuna Boat Club Reached the Spot

Upon receiving information about the incident, the NDRF and the Yamuna Boat Club team reached the spot. With the help of special equipment and boats, the youth was pulled out of the b river current.

The police took the youth to the station for a preliminary inquiry and then sent him to the hospital. Volunteers also played a crucial role in this operation, guiding the team to a successful rescue.

35 People Rescued from Monastery Market

Due to the rising water level of the Yamuna River, several areas have been inundated. The NDRF team has rescued over 40 people from various locations so far.

Four people were rescued from Barapullah in East Delhi district, several people and animals were rescued from the third embankment in Usmanpur, and four elderly people, a dog, and a cat were rescued in Central Delhi. Additionally, 35 people stranded in the floodwaters at Monastery Market were safely evacuated.

Increased Safety Concerns Among Locals

Local residents are now afraid to leave their homes at night. Concerns for the safety of children and the elderly are continuously rising. Residents have urged the NDRF and police to remain vigilant and ensure safe passage. They also emphasized the need to strengthen water level monitoring and early warning systems to prevent such incidents in the future.
