Pappu Yadav in Parliament: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressed displeasure on Thursday over the conduct of Independent Member of Parliament Pappu Yadav in the House. The Speaker cautioned Yadav for informal conversation and placing his hand on the shoulder of Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Ram Mohan Naidu, during the proceedings.
Speaker's Rebuke over Conversation with Union Minister?
Pappu Yadav was sitting next to Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu in the Lok Sabha and discussing the airport in his constituency. During the conversation, he placed his hand on Naidu's shoulder, which the Lok Sabha Speaker deemed inappropriate. Subsequently, Om Birla advised Pappu Yadav to maintain the dignity of the House and adhere to parliamentary rules.
Previous Admonition to Rahul Gandhi
This is not the first instance of the Lok Sabha Speaker cautioning a Member of Parliament about maintaining discipline. On Wednesday, Om Birla had also bly advised Congress MP Rahul Gandhi to uphold the dignity of the House. He emphasized that all MPs are expected to maintain decorum and politeness. He specifically told Rahul Gandhi that, as the Leader of the Opposition, his conduct should be exemplary.
Rahul Gandhi Objects
However, Rahul Gandhi objected, stating that the Speaker's accusation was baseless. In a conversation with the media, he said he was not given a chance to speak in the House. Rahul Gandhi stated, "I requested the Speaker to allow me to speak, but he did not listen, and this method of running the House is not correct."
