Nandini Milk and Curd Prices to Increase by ₹4 per Liter in Karnataka from April 1st. The increased amount will be directly passed on to dairy farmers, the government has decided.
Milk Price Hike: The Karnataka government has approved a ₹4 per liter increase in the price of milk and curd in the state. This decision was green-lit during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Animal Husbandry Minister K. Venkatesh explained that this measure is aimed at benefiting the state's dairy farmers and addresses the rising cost of milk production. The government claims this price revision will directly benefit farmers and encourage increased milk production.
New Rates Effective from April 1st
Karnataka's Cooperation Minister K.N. Rajanna stated that the ₹4 per liter increase in milk and curd prices will come into effect on April 1st. He mentioned that this decision follows demands from farmers and milk unions. While the unions requested a ₹5 per liter increase, the government opted for a ₹4 increase. The entire price increase will benefit the farmers. According to the government, this decision considers the recent hikes in bus and metro fares, and electricity rates.
New Prices will be as follows:
Toned Milk: ₹42 to ₹46 per liter
Homogenized Toned Milk: ₹43 to ₹47 per liter
Cow's Milk (Green Packet): ₹46 to ₹50 per liter
Shubham Milk: ₹48 to ₹52 per liter
Curd: ₹50 to ₹54 per liter
KMF has previously increased prices
The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) had previously increased milk prices last year. KMF President Bheema Naik had already hinted at a price increase. KMF sells its dairy products under the 'Nandini' brand. In 2024, KMF increased milk prices by ₹2 per packet and added 50 milliliters to the packet size. KMF claims that the increase at that time was effectively negligible because consumers received an additional quantity.
