Aligarh administration imposes daily five-hour ban on heavy vehicles on Ramghat Road to speed up construction

The Aligarh district administration has imposed strict measures to ensure the completion of ongoing construction work on Ramghat Road within the stipulated timeframe. Under official orders, the movement of commercial and heavy vehicles will remain completely prohibited for five hours every day, a decision taken in view of the Shivratri festival to ensure that the road work is finished before the occasion and to prevent inconvenience to the public.

Ramghat Road is considered one of the busiest and most important roads in Aligarh, with thousands of vehicles passing through daily, including a large number of trucks, buses, dumpers and other heavy commercial vehicles. Continuous heavy traffic was repeatedly disrupting construction work, creating difficulties in operating machinery and improving the road surface, which slowed progress. In light of these conditions, the administration implemented this temporary but strict restriction.

Administrative officials stated that the restriction has been imposed solely to accelerate the completion of the construction work. During the restricted hours, the construction agency will be able to work without interruption. Road repairs, filling of potholes, laying of a new surface, improvement of the drainage system and divider-related works will be completed on a priority basis. Officials also clarified that there will be no compromise on quality and that special attention is being given to ensuring long-term durability of the road.

The administration has made it clear that emergency services are fully exempt from the restriction. Ambulances, fire brigade vehicles, police vehicles and other essential service vehicles will not be stopped under any circumstances. Traffic police have been given clear instructions to ensure that emergency service vehicles are provided passage immediately and without delay.

To maintain smooth traffic movement, the traffic police have arranged alternative routes. Commercial vehicles are being diverted through the city’s outer bypass and other designated routes to prevent additional traffic pressure within the city. Police deployment has been increased and continuous monitoring is being carried out to prevent traffic congestion at any location. Vehicle drivers have been advised to follow the routes निर्धारित by the administration and avoid violations.

The administration has also appealed to the general public for cooperation. Citizens have been asked to remain patient during the construction period and to avoid using Ramghat Road during the restricted hours unless necessary. The administration stated that temporary inconvenience for a few days will result in improved and safer road facilities in the future.

The construction agency associated with the project said the work has now reached its final stage and that the restriction will help accelerate progress. If weather and other conditions remain favourable, Ramghat Road will be fully completed and opened for traffic before Shivratri. Once fully operational, the road is expected to ease movement for local residents as well as devotees travelling during the festival.

The administration has assured that upon completion of the construction work, traffic management on Ramghat Road will be better than before and congestion on the route will be reduced.
