Bihar Vidhan Sabha: Dr. Prem Kumar, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has been elected as the Speaker of the 18th Bihar Legislative Assembly. He has assumed office, marking his ninth victory in a legislative assembly election to reach the assembly. 'Amar Ujala' had previously reported that there was no dispute between Janata Dal (United) and BJP regarding this position.
On Monday, the first day of the special session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Dr. Prem Kumar took oath as an MLA after Tejashwi Yadav and other ministers, in front of the Protem Speaker. Subsequently, he filed his nomination for the post of Assembly Speaker as a candidate of the National Democratic Alliance, and today he was elected unopposed as the Assembly Speaker.
Elected Unopposed, Nominated as NDA Candidate
On Monday, the first day of the special session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Dr. Prem Kumar took the oath in front of the Protem Speaker. Subsequently, he filed his nomination as the candidate of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Today, he was elected unopposed as the Assembly Speaker. Dr. Prem Kumar stated, "The NDA leadership and the party have reposed faith in me. Following this, I filed my nomination, and today I have been entrusted with the responsibility of the Speaker's post. I thank everyone."
He further expressed gratitude to the public, having been elected as an MLA for the ninth time to reach the assembly. He also extended his best wishes to all the MLAs and new members.

Dr. Prem Kumar resides in the Nai Sadak area of Gaya city. He belongs to the Kahar caste, which is associated with the Chandravanshi community. Besides his wife, he has a son and a daughter, both of whom are married. His son has held a position in the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. Dr. Prem Kumar's most notable quality has been his accessibility and approachability, which has enabled him to win elections consistently for 35 years and maintain public trust.
Dr. Prem Kumar has maintained a very b hold over the Gaya Town assembly constituency. He first registered a victory in 1990 on a seat dominated by Congress.
