India Grapples with Persistent Monsoon Rains: Heavy Rainfall Alerts Issued for Multiple States

The spell of rain in the country shows no signs of stopping. From Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Punjab to Kashmir, nature's fury has amplified people's difficulties. The NDRF teams are fully engaged in rescue operations to tackle this heavy rainfall. 

New Delhi: The impact of the monsoon continues in the country. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall on September 7 for several states including Delhi, Rajasthan, UP, Bihar, and Punjab. Life has been disrupted by the continuous rain, with water levels in rivers and streams nearing the danger mark. NDRF teams are engaged in rescue operations in various states.

Weather in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar

According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi is expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall on September 7. There is a higher probability of rain in the afternoon or evening. The water level of the Yamuna River is gradually decreasing, but the Ministry of Jal Shakti has cautioned that it might reach around 206 meters by evening. As per the Meteorological Centre in Lucknow, light rainfall may occur in most districts of Uttar Pradesh, but heavy rain is anticipated in districts bordering Delhi such as Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida), Ghaziabad, and Baghpat. 

Rain with thunderstorms is warned for some parts of UP on September 8 and 9. A rain alert has been issued for East UP on September 10 and for many parts of the entire state on September 11. According to the Patna Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of some relief in Bihar on September 7, but thunderstorms and lightning are warned for some districts. 

A yellow alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning has been issued for the entire state on September 9. Additionally, rainfall is expected in the southern and eastern districts of Bihar between September 10 and 13.

Heavy Rainfall Alert in Punjab, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh 

According to the Chandigarh Meteorological Department, there is no specific warning for Punjab on September 7. Most districts are expected to be spared from rain. However, Punjab recently experienced devastating floods in which 43 people died and crops spread over 1.71 lakh hectares were destroyed. 1902 villages in 23 districts were completely submerged. 

The Jaipur Meteorological Centre has reported that a red alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for Rajasthan on September 7, with warnings specifically for Barmer, Jalore, and Sirohi. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Pali, Rajsamand, and Udaipur. According to the Bhopal Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of some relief from rain in Madhya Pradesh on September 7. Water levels in rivers may gradually decrease. Continuous rain in Madhya Pradesh during August had affected life in many districts.

Most districts in Uttarakhand are experiencing relief from rain, but a warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for Nainital and Champawat. People have been appealed to exercise caution. Himachal Pradesh is also experiencing relief from heavy rains. Over 300 people lost their lives in recent floods and cloudburst incidents.
