Maharashtra's politics is currently heated up regarding Jayant Patil, the state president of the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction). Amidst speculation about his resignation, BJP leader and Minister Girish Mahajan has fueled the political turmoil with a significant statement. He has claimed that Patil is not satisfied with his party and is in constant contact with him. However, Mahajan also clarified that Patil has neither mentioned resignation nor indicated leaving the party in his presence.
Party Denies Amidst Resignation Speculations
Recently, there have been widespread discussions that Jayant Patil has resigned from the post of state president of NCP (SP) and that MLC Shashikant Shinde might take over this responsibility. However, the party has dismissed these reports as misleading. The NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) clarified on Saturday that Patil has not resigned and that an important meeting has been convened on Tuesday regarding this matter.
On June 10, while addressing the party workers on the occasion of the party's 26th anniversary, Jayant Patil did give hints that he was considering leaving his post for organizational changes. The noteworthy point was that party chief Sharad Pawar was also present on the stage at that time, which further fueled the speculations.
The Issue of Family vs. Workers
Girish Mahajan presented Patil's displeasure as a fight of 'family versus dedicated workers' within the party. He directly targeted Sharad Pawar and his daughter Supriya Sule, saying that parties like the NCP are running like a family, where politics revolves only around the daughter, nephew, and son-in-law. Mahajan alleged that due to this, dedicated and senior leaders feel sidelined and often consider leaving the party.
He also added that this situation is not limited to the NCP, but the same condition is also seen in parties like the Congress. This confrontation is now no longer hidden from anyone.
Mahajan on Other Issues
Girish Mahajan expressed happiness over UNESCO giving the status of World Heritage Site to 12 forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He said that when he was the state's tourism minister, the list of these forts was sent to UNESCO. Now these forts will get the benefit of better conservation and tourism development with global recognition.
Regarding the question about NCP MLA Rohit Pawar on the ED investigation, Mahajan said that those involved in corruption would have to face the consequences. He clearly stated that if Rohit Pawar considers himself innocent, he has nothing to fear from the investigation.
Silence on Sanjay Shirsat's Video
When Mahajan was asked about the suspicious bag seen in the viral video of Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Shirsat and whether it contained money or clothes, he refrained from giving a direct answer. He said that the real question is who made the video and what was its purpose. Now that the video has come out, it is necessary to investigate its intentions and conspiracy.
