Monsoon Intensifies: Heavy Rainfall Causes Devastation Across India

The monsoon has fully intensified across the country, and its impact is visible everywhere. Heavy rainfall in several parts of North India, including Delhi-NCR, has provided relief from the scorching heat, but on the other hand, this monsoon has also caused severe devastation in many states.

IMD Weather Forecast: While the monsoon has provided relief from the heat in many areas of the country this time, it has also caused terrible devastation in others. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that heavy to very heavy rainfall will continue in the northern, central, and northeastern parts of the country in the coming days. Consequently, red and orange alerts have been issued in more than 10 states, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Rajasthan.

Situation Uncontrollable in Himachal and Uttarakhand

The continuous heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh for the past 48 hours has completely disrupted normal life. Many roads have been closed due to overflowing rivers and landslides, cutting off dozens of villages. The state administration ordered the closure of schools in four districts on Monday. Meanwhile, 20 deaths have been confirmed so far in rain-related incidents. The total number of deaths in Himachal this monsoon season has reached 39.

In the Barkot area of Uttarakhand, a cloudburst resulted in nine laborers going missing, of whom two bodies were recovered on Monday. Many areas in the state have been completely cut off due to landslides, bridge collapses, and overflowing rivers. Local administration has appealed to people in sensitive areas to stay indoors.

Alert in Jharkhand, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh

According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Jharkhand on June 30 and July 1. Similarly, torrential rain is predicted in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh on July 4 and 5. The weather department has clearly stated that waterlogging and road blockages are likely in these states, so following the guidelines of the local administration will be very important.

5 Deaths in Rajasthan Due to Lightning Strikes

Heavy rainfall occurred in 24 districts of Rajasthan on Sunday, and an alert was issued for 27 districts on Monday. During this period, 5 people died in separate incidents due to lightning strikes and drowning. The weather department says that the monsoon has now reached Pakistan and heavy rainfall may occur in many places in the state in the next 3-4 days.

Heavy Rainfall in the Northeast Also

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from July 2 to 5. Warnings of heavy showers with thunderstorms have been issued here, which could worsen the situation of landslides and floods. Heavy rainfall alerts are also in place for Konkan, Goa, Gujarat, and the ghat areas of central Maharashtra over the next 7 days. Heavy rainfall is predicted in Marathwada today, June 30.
