In Motihari's Kanakti village, Ajay Yadav was killed in violence following a Muharram procession. The BJP has launched a scathing attack on the RJD, citing Tejashwi Yadav's silence and slogans of 'Shahabuddin Zindabad'.
Bihar: The political climate has heated up in Bihar's Motihari district following the violence and the killing of Ajay Yadav during a Muharram procession in Kanakti village. The BJP has put Tejashwi Yadav and the RJD in the dock. Amit Malviya has alleged that Tejashwi Yadav's statements, such as the 'Shahabuddin Zindabad' slogans, have fueled anarchy in Bihar. The entire incident has sparked intense debate across social media and political circles.
What is the matter in Kanakti village?
On Sunday night, a Muharram procession was being taken out in Kanakti village, located in the Mehsi police station area of Motihari district. It is alleged that upon returning, a mob of approximately 30 to 35 youths suddenly became violent. During this, people from another community present in the village were attacked with sharp weapons and swords.
In this attack, a young man named Ajay Yadav died on the spot. Four others were seriously injured. The injured are being treated at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur.
Considering the seriousness of the incident, DIG Harkishore Rai, SP Swarn Prabhat, and District Magistrate Saurabh Jorwal immediately reached the spot. The officers met with the victim's family and assured them of the arrest of the culprits. So far, 12 suspects have been taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing.
Injured's Allegation: Sudden Attack
Dhananjay Kumar, who was injured in the attack, stated that the crowd participating in the procession, led by ward member Nizamuddin Mian, was returning. During that time, tension escalated in the village and the attack occurred suddenly. He alleged that there was no prior dispute before this incident, yet swords were used in the attack.
BJP's Attack: Direct Allegation against Tejashwi Yadav
After the incident, the Bharatiya Janata Party has targeted the Rashtriya Janata Dal and Tejashwi Yadav in particular. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya wrote on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that Tejashwi Yadav had recently allowed slogans of 'Shahabuddin Zindabad' to be raised from the stage, and that the attacks on the Hindu community by disruptive elements in Bihar under the guise of Muharram began thereafter.
Malviya questioned that Tejashwi Yadav himself comes from the Yadav community, yet he has not uttered a single word on the murder of Ajay Yadav. He alleged that 'Muslim appeasement' has become so dominant in RJD's politics that even the life of a person from their own community does not matter.
Allegation of 'Shahabuddin-ist Mentality'
Amit Malviya further stated in his statement that the recent violence in several districts of Bihar in the name of Muharram is the result of the same 'Shahabuddin-ist mentality' that leaders like Tejashwi Yadav are glorifying. He said that the way they had the slogan 'Shahabuddin Zindabad' raised from the stage was not just a slogan, but like giving legitimacy to a dangerous ideology.
Local MLA's Statement:
After the incident, local BJP MLA Shyam Babu Yadav visited the scene. He called the murder a pre-planned conspiracy. The MLA alleged that a particular community carried out this attack due to previous animosity. He demanded from the administration that the culprits be punished as soon as possible through speedy trial. He also demanded that the District Magistrate provide financial assistance to the victim's family. He also said that strict action is necessary on such incidents so that law and order is maintained in the state.
