During the discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi asked, "Why did you stop the operation?" Rajnath Singh replied - Pakistan itself had requested a ceasefire, and India had achieved its military objectives.
Operation Sindoor: A special discussion was held in the Lok Sabha on Monday during the Monsoon session of Parliament regarding the Pahalgam terrorist attack and the military operation 'Operation Sindoor' conducted by India in response. During this discussion, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh provided detailed information about the operation. He stated that the objective of the operation was not war, but to dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism.
Rajnath Singh's Reply: 'Pakistan Itself Requested a Ceasefire'
Rajnath Singh said that in Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army successfully targeted several key enemy locations. He mentioned that on the morning of May 10th, after the Indian Air Force targeted several Pakistani airfields, Pakistan contacted India at the DGMO (Director General of Military Operations) level and requested a ceasefire. Singh said, "They told our DGMO, 'Maharaj, stop now, it's enough.' We accepted the ceasefire with conditions, because all our military objectives had been achieved."
Rahul Gandhi's Question
During Rajnath Singh's statement, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi suddenly stood up and asked, "So why did you stop the operation?" This caused a stir in the House. Rajnath Singh said that he had answered this in detail in his speech and that the Leader of the Opposition should listen to his entire speech. He also said that he respects the opposition's right to ask questions.
'The Success of the Operation Should Be Discussed, Not the Loss of Aircraft'
Criticizing the opposition, the Defense Minister said that instead of asking how many Indian aircraft were lost in the operation, the opposition should look at how successful the mission was in achieving its objectives. He said, "India did not take any step under pressure. Operation Sindoor was stopped because the objectives that were set before the operation had been achieved."
'The Aim Was Not to Occupy Any Territory'
Rajnath Singh clarified that the objective of Operation Sindoor was not to occupy any territory. He said, "Our objective was to eliminate that terrorist nursery of Pakistan which carried out heinous crimes like the Pahalgam attack. Through this operation, we sent the message that India will now respond bly to every terrorist attack."
'We Had Given Full Freedom to the Army'
The Defense Minister said that the Indian government had given the armed forces full freedom to choose targets and respond bly. He stated that Operation Sindoor was not only a demonstration of military power, but also an example of strategic thinking and decisive leadership.
In his speech, Rajnath Singh made it clear that India will now respond to every terrorist attack in its own way. He said, "This is a new India. The time is gone when there would be an attack and we would remain silent. Now there will be a response and there will be consequences."
Questions on the Role of the Opposition
Taunting the opposition, the Defense Minister said that some people are raising questions even at a time when the country should stand united to salute the valor of the soldiers. He said, "Those who question the number of aircraft in the operation should understand that this is not a counting game, but a matter of national security."
