Opposition's Vice Presidential candidate B. Sudarshan Reddy will file his nomination today, i.e., Thursday at 11:30 AM. Several prominent leaders of the India bloc will be present on this occasion, including Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Ram Gopal Yadav.
New Delhi: Ahead of the Vice Presidential election in India scheduled for September 9th, opposition candidate and former Supreme Court Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy will file his nomination today, Thursday, at 11:30 AM. On this occasion, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, former Lok Sabha Speaker Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party's Ram Gopal Yadav, and several other prominent leaders of the India bloc will be present.
A special program was organized in the Central Hall of the Constitution House to honor B. Sudarshan Reddy on behalf of the opposition. Floor leaders and senior leaders of the opposition, such as Sharad Pawar and Sanjay Raut, also attended the program. Mallikarjun Kharge and Sharad Pawar felicitated B. Sudarshan Reddy on this occasion. Additionally, 80 opposition MPs signed as proposers and seconders for B. Sudarshan Reddy's nomination, including Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
NDA Candidate CP Radhakrishnan's Nomination
Prior to this, NDA's Vice Presidential candidate CP Radhakrishnan filed his nomination on Wednesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari were present on this occasion. CP Radhakrishnan filed his nomination in four sets, with each set containing the signatures of 20 proposers and 20 seconders. Prime Minister Modi signed as the chief proposer in the first set.
NDA's Lead in the Vice Presidential Election
This time, there are a total of 782 MPs in the electoral college for the Vice Presidential election. This includes 542 members from the Lok Sabha and 240 members from the Rajya Sabha. The number required to win is 391. The NDA has the support of a total of 422 MPs, while the opposition has 312 MPs. Based on this, NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan's victory is considered almost certain. The main topic of discussion in the election now is the margin of victory.
Experts say that the opposition's attempt will be to reduce the margin of votes, but in terms of numbers, the NDA's victory is almost certain. On the day of the election, all the MPs in the electoral college will cast their votes, and the final result for the post of Vice President will be clear only after the counting of votes.
