Delhi Police presented Rakesh Bhai Khimji, the accused in the attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a public hearing on Wednesday, before the Duty Magistrate at the Tis Hazari Court late at night.
Delhi CM Attack: In the case of the attack on Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in Delhi on Wednesday, the main accused, Rakesh Bhai Khimji, has been taken into five-day police custody. The Duty Magistrate of the Tis Hazari Court ordered the accused to be sent to police remand, while the police had requested seven days of custody. According to police sources, Rakesh Bhai Khimji was secretly presented in court late at night for security reasons. Immediately after the attack, considering the seriousness of the matter, Delhi Police registered a case against the accused at the Civil Lines Police Station. Accused on 5-Day Remand
A case has been registered against Rakesh Bhai Khimji under sections 109(1), 132, and 221 of the Indian Penal Code.
- Section 109(1): This section applies to cases where a person has been aided in causing injury or attempting murder. If the accused is found guilty, it carries a punishment of up to life imprisonment. However, in general cases, a sentence of 10 years can be awarded under this section.
- Section 132: This section provides for punishment for causing injury to or obstructing a government official or employee in the performance of their duties. The accused may face imprisonment of up to two years.
- Section 221: This section applies to obstructing government work. It carries a punishment of three months imprisonment and a fine of two thousand rupees.

Police Investigation Ongoing
Delhi Police has intensified the investigation into the matter. Security officials say that the security of the Chief Minister and other senior officials in the capital is being prioritized. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is currently stable and was provided with immediate first aid at the hospital. Hospital sources reported that the Chief Minister's injuries are not serious and her condition is now better.
