In the case of assault and vandalism against doctors and staff following a patient's death at Ram Awadh Hospital in Pilibhit, the police have registered an FIR against 200 unidentified individuals. The search for the accused is ongoing based on CCTV footage.
Pilibhit: A massive commotion erupted at the renowned Ram Awadh Hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit district on Saturday night following the death of a patient. Enraged relatives and local residents vandalized the hospital, assaulted doctors and staff, and held the hospital hostage for hours. The police brought the situation under control, and a case has now been registered against 200 unidentified individuals. The process of identifying and arresting the culprits has begun with the help of CCTV footage.
Commotion at Hospital After Patient's Death
The incident is reported to have occurred on the evening of October 19. A patient died during treatment at Ram Awadh Hospital, after which the family's anger erupted. Soon, a large number of people arrived at the hospital and began vandalizing it. Hospital windows, furniture, and even the medical store were destroyed.
The situation worsened when the mob took Dr. J.N. Mishra's son and daughter-in-law hostage. The staff present at the scene tried to manage the situation, but the angry crowd ignored everyone. Upon receiving information, the police arrived at the scene and somehow brought the commotion under control. The deceased's body was sent for post-mortem, and the police initiated an investigation.
Police Action: Case Registered Against 200 Rioters
The police have taken swift action in this entire matter. The Putki police station in-charge stated that based on the hospital management's complaint, a case has been registered against 200 unidentified individuals under BNS sections 190, 191, and other serious provisions. The police team is sifting through CCTV footage to identify the culprits.
Officials stated that many individuals are clearly visible in the video, and their arrests will follow soon. The district's Senior Superintendent of Police informed that additional forces have been deployed for the security of the hospital and doctors. He also stated that no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands.
IMA Takes Strict Stance on Doctors' Safety

Following this incident, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has lodged a b protest against the Pilibhit administration and the state government. IMA President Dr. Bharat Sethi stated, “Doctors work tirelessly day and night to save lives. If they are attacked in this manner, who would want to remain in service as a doctor?”
The IMA has demanded that all accused be arrested promptly and given strict punishment; otherwise, doctors across the district will go on an indefinite strike. The organization also warned that if the government does not take concrete steps for the safety of physicians, a statewide movement will be launched.
Cannot Provide Treatment in an Atmosphere of Fear
Dr. Manish Mishra, who was present at the hospital during the incident, stated that he had come to visit his father with his family on the occasion of Diwali. After the patient's death, some people suddenly started shouting and attacked them. He said, “My wife was also pushed, and the children started crying out of fear. The hospital was completely ransacked.”
Dr. Mishra stated that the medical profession is about service, but if doctors do not receive security, it will become difficult to work. He demanded from the administration that hospitals be provided with a permanent arrangement of security personnel to prevent such incidents from recurring.
