PM Kisan Yojana: The Modi government has approved the 'Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana' with the aim of improving the income and living standards of farmers. This scheme will be implemented from 2025-26 and will initially cover 100 districts across the country. A total of ₹24,000 crore will be spent on the scheme over 6 years. Approximately 1.7 crore farmers are expected to benefit from this scheme.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Expresses Delight

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving this scheme. He wrote on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that this scheme is not just about seeds and land, but a resolve to empower and enrich Indian rural life. CM Yogi wrote, "Heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister for this historic initiative to give shape to the sentiment of greenery in every field and prosperity in the life of every farmer."

First Specific Scheme Dedicated to the Agriculture Sector

The Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana has been designed on the lines of the NITI Aayog's aspirational districts and is the central government's first specific scheme for agriculture and related sectors. Its objective is to increase agricultural production, promote crop diversification, connect farmers with modern technology, and simplify the provision of long-term and short-term loans for financial assistance.

The Scheme Will Have 36 Sub-Schemes

A total of 36 sub-schemes will be included under this scheme, which will focus on various agricultural activities such as irrigation, seeds, soil improvement, crop insurance, agricultural machinery, organic farming, animal husbandry, and strengthening agricultural markets. All these sub-schemes will be implemented under a comprehensive strategy so that farmers can get all the facilities on a single platform.

How the Scheme Will Be Implemented

To successfully implement the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana, committees will be constituted at the district, state, and national levels. A 'District Dhan-Dhanya Committee' will be formed at the district level to prepare a work plan for agriculture and related activities in the district. This committee will include administrative officers as well as progressive farmers so that the benefits of the scheme can reach the grassroots level.

Nodal Officers Will Monitor

The central government will appoint a central nodal officer in each district, who will monitor and review the scheme. This officer will coordinate with the district committees to ensure the timely and transparent implementation of the schemes. This will also improve the quality and effectiveness of the scheme.

Budget and Beneficiaries

The government has passed a budget of ₹24,000 crore for this scheme, which will be spent over the next six years. 1.7 crore farmers are likely to benefit directly from this. This scheme will be particularly beneficial for small and marginal farmers who lag behind in the agricultural sector due to lack of resources.

Hope for Change in Rural India

The aim of this scheme is not only to increase agricultural production but also to generate employment in rural areas, increase the income of farmers, and improve rural life. This will be an important step towards sustainable development in rural areas.
