Samajwadi Party Challenges Ex-MLAs to Resign and Contest Elections in Uttar Pradesh

The political landscape in Uttar Pradesh has intensified. The Samajwadi Party has openly challenged three of its former MLAs – Rakesh Pratap Singh, Abhay Singh, and Manoj Pandey – to re-contest elections. SP spokesperson Deepak Ranjan, in harsh words, targeted these leaders, stating that they had won elections in 2022 on the SP symbol. He asserted that if they believe they can win elections based on their individual strength, they should immediately resign from their MLA positions and face the public again.

SP Reminds of Ghosi By-election

Deepak Ranjan cited the Ghosi by-election as an example, where the public decisively defeated Dara Singh Chauhan when he left the SP and joined the BJP, electing Sudhakar Singh. He mentioned that the BJP still remembers that defeat, which is why the party is cautiously approaching the issue of the three former MLAs. The SP spokesperson sarcastically remarked that the BJP and these three leaders are afraid of facing the people's mandate.

Betrayal of the Public

The SP spokesperson alleged that the three MLAs had betrayed not only the party but also the lakhs of voters who had trusted and elected them. He stated that if these leaders have any remaining ethics, they should resign from their posts and seek a fresh mandate. Ranjan also added that it will only become clear who the public supports once they enter the electoral arena.

Currently, there has been no direct response from the three leaders to this challenge. However, the SP's attack has certainly heated up the political atmosphere, and the discussion about by-elections is likely to intensify in the coming days.
