The dispute between Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Iqra Hasan and Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Santosh Bahadur Singh in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district has ignited political tensions. Iqra Hasan, the MP from Kairana, has accused the ADM of misconduct, questioning his behavior and administrative training. She stated that even though the BJP government talks about women empowerment, female public representatives are being treated disrespectfully under the same government. Iqra Hasan has written to senior officials, demanding strict action against the ADM in connection with the alleged misbehavior towards Shama Parveen, the chairperson of the Chhutmalpur Nagar Panchayat.
Dispute Escalates Amid Public Grievances
The entire incident dates back to July 1st, when the SP MP visited Chhutmalpur and was listening to public grievances. During that time, the female chairperson of the Nagar Panchayat, Shama Parveen, complained to her about the poor behavior of the local EO (Executive Officer). Subsequently, Iqra Hasan went to meet ADM Santosh Bahadur Singh to discuss these issues. She alleges that when she contacted the ADM around 1:00 PM, she was informed that the officer was at lunch. According to the MP, she waited in his office until 3:30 PM, but the ADM did not meet her. She described this behavior as not only disrespectful but also against democratic processes.
MP Outraged by Alleged Words of ADM
Iqra Hasan stated that when she went back to the ADM's office on the instructions of senior officials and verbally complained about the misbehavior towards Shama Parveen, the ADM not only ignored her but also used uncivil language, claimed to be the owner of the office, and asked her to leave. The MP said that when she tried to inform the authorities about this incident via phone, she couldn't get through due to their preoccupation with Kanwar duty (religious procession).
Demand for the Removal of ADM
Now, Iqra Hasan has filed a written complaint about the entire matter, stating that the incident shows the mindset with which the officer is working. She alleged that the ADM's thinking is completely anti-women and that he neither understands how to behave with public representatives nor has any sensitivity. She also stated that such officers should be given training so that they understand the dignity and responsibility of their position. The MP has demanded that strict legal action be taken against the ADM and that he be immediately removed from his post.
