The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to increase the honorarium of panchayat assistants. According to an announcement by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, panchayat assistants will now receive a monthly honorarium of Rs 9,000 instead of Rs 6,000. More than 57,000 panchayat assistants across the state will benefit from the decision.

The honorarium will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of panchayat assistants through DBT. The payment will therefore be made directly to the beneficiaries’ accounts, making the process of receiving the honorarium more direct than before.
Along with the increase in honorarium, the government has announced service security and cashless treatment for panchayat assistants. Pradhans or secretaries will no longer be able to remove panchayat assistants at their own level. Decisions in matters concerning any panchayat assistant will be taken by a committee headed by the district magistrate.
The government has also announced maternity leave for women panchayat assistants, enabling them to avail themselves of maternity leave during their period of service.
The government has decided to withdraw cases registered against panchayat assistants during the agitation. It has also announced the reinstatement of panchayat assistants who were removed during the action.
The government’s announcements include the increase in honorarium along with provisions related to service security, healthcare facilities and other service-related measures for panchayat assistants.
