The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) achieved a major success on Monday morning in Muzaffarnagar district. The Meerut STF team eliminated Shahrukh Pathan, a notorious criminal and sharp shooter of the Sanjeev Jeeva gang, in an encounter. The encounter took place in the Chhapar police station area of Muzaffarnagar. Shahrukh had been on the police's wanted list for a long time and was implicated in over a dozen serious crimes, including murder, extortion, and robbery.
Operation Conducted Based on Secret Information
According to police sources, the Meerut STF received information that Shahrukh Pathan was hiding in the Chhapar area. Based on this input, the STF team conducted a thorough cordon of the area on Monday morning. Shahrukh then opened fire on the police, and the STF retaliated. During the encounter, Shahrukh was shot and taken to the hospital in an injured condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Some other criminals who were with Shahrukh at the time of the encounter managed to escape, taking advantage of the darkness. The police have launched a search operation in the area and are continuing to look for the absconding criminals.
Who was Shahrukh Pathan?
Shahrukh Pathan was a resident of the Khalapar area of Muzaffarnagar and entered the world of crime in 2015. He escaped from police custody in 2016 and had been actively involved in criminal activities since then. Cases of serious crimes like murder, robbery, Arms Act violations, and extortion were registered against him in Muzaffarnagar, Sambhal, and Haridwar. He was an active member of the notorious gangster Sanjeev Jeeva's gang. Sanjeev Jeeva was also shot dead two years ago during a court appearance in Lucknow.
Large Quantity of Weapons Recovered
A large quantity of weapons and ammunition were recovered from the scene after the encounter. According to the police, a 30mm Beretta pistol, a 32mm Ordnance revolver, a desi 9mm pistol, a white Brezza car without a number plate, 7 live cartridges (9mm), 10 live cartridges (32mm), 46 live cartridges (30mm), and 6 empty cartridges were recovered from Shahrukh.
This action by the STF is considered a major success against organized crime in western Uttar Pradesh. The police are now focused on searching for other criminals connected to Shahrukh's network and gang.
