The Uttar Pradesh government has increased the monthly honorarium of more than 57,000 Panchayat assistants by Rs 3,000, raising it from Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000. The government has also announced service security, cashless medical treatment and maternity leave for women Panchayat assistants.
According to the announcement by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Panchayat assistants in Uttar Pradesh will now receive a monthly honorarium of Rs 9,000 instead of Rs 6,000. The decision will benefit more than 57,000 Panchayat assistants across the state.
The government has said that the honorarium will be transferred directly to Panchayat assistants’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Along with the increase in honorarium, the government has announced service security and cashless medical treatment for Panchayat assistants. Under the announced provision, a Panchayat assistant cannot be removed by the village head or secretary at their own level. Any matter concerning a Panchayat assistant will be decided by a committee headed by the district magistrate.
The government has also announced maternity leave for women Panchayat assistants, allowing them to avail themselves of the facility during their service period.
The government has decided to withdraw cases registered against Panchayat assistants during their agitation. It has also announced the reinstatement of Panchayat assistants who were removed during the action.
The announcements therefore include an increase in the honorarium along with provisions concerning service security, healthcare and other service-related facilities for Panchayat assistants.
