Pune: A horrific incident has emerged from Maharashtra's Washim district. Following an argument with his wife, a man brutally slit the throats of his two twin daughters and abandoned their bodies in the forest. Four days later, overwhelmed by guilt, the accused confessed his crime to the police. The entire locality is stunned by this heinous act.
Husband Kills Two Daughters After Argument
According to the police, the accused has been identified as Rahul Sheshrao Chavan (33), who worked as a security guard at an IT company in Pune. Arguments between the husband and wife were frequent in the family. A few days before Diwali, a major dispute occurred between them, after which the wife left their two-year-old twin daughters with her husband and went to her parents' house.
On October 21, the day of Lakshmi Puja, Rahul left Pune with his two daughters — Pranali and Pratiksha (aged 2.5 years) — on a two-wheeler, heading for his ancestral village Rui (Manora Taluka, Washim District). En route, near Andhera Junction in Deulgaon Raja Taluka, Buldhana District, he slit the throats of both girls with a sharp weapon, killing them, by the edge of the forest.
Father Kills Daughters, Dumps Bodies in Forest
After the murder, the accused threw both bodies into dense bushes approximately 20 meters from the road to prevent any evidence from being found. He then tried to appear normal, reached his village, and didn't tell anyone for four days. According to the police, he spent the remaining Diwali days with his family as if nothing had happened.
However, four days later, when guilt overwhelmed him, he recounted the entire incident to his relatives on October 24. The relatives immediately informed the police, and the accused was taken to Asegaon Police Station, where he confessed to his crime.
Accused Arrested in Child Murder Case

Police Inspector Ramkrishna Bhakade stated that the accused was taken to the crime scene, where the forensic team collected evidence. As the bodies had decomposed, a post-mortem examination was conducted in the forest itself. Superintendent of Police Nilesh Tambe and Additional Superintendent of Police Amol Gaikwad were also present during this process.
The police have registered a case against the accused for murder and destruction of evidence. The incident has deeply shocked the local residents and has once again raised questions about increasing violence against children in society.
