WhatsApp Launches Group Message History Feature Allowing Admins to Share 25 to 100 Previous Messages

WhatsApp has lssages with newly added group members. The feature provides admin-controlled message history sharing, notifications to all members, and clearly marked shared messages displaying original timestamps and sender details.

WhatsApp has introduced a new Group Message History feature on its messaging platform that allows new group members to access earlier messages. The feature enables group administrators to share between 25 and 100 previous messages with newly added members.

The update is designed to help new members understand prior group conversations more easily. By allowing administrators to share selected message history, the feature eliminates the need to forward older messages or send screenshots separately.

Message history sharing is not automatic. Administrators must actively choose to share previous messages and also have the option to disable the feature. The control over sharing remains entirely with the group administrator, prioritising user privacy and administrative control.

When message history is shared, all group members receive a notification. The shared messages are marked separately from regular chat messages and display the original timestamp and sender information.

The feature is intended to streamline the onboarding experience for new members by providing immediate access to relevant past discussions, reducing the need to request older updates within the group.
