Gautam Buddh Nagar has deployed 2,500 police personnel and strengthened security and traffic arrangements for Janmashtami. Police will monitor more than 200 temples and tableaux at six locations, with drones, CCTV cameras and personnel in plain clothes deployed at key sites.
Traffic restrictions have been imposed around the ISKCON Temple in Sector 33 due to the expected arrival of a large number of devotees. Movement of all types of vehicles will remain restricted from the NTPC Underpass intersection to Gijhore intersection and from Gijhore Chowk towards NTPC. Vehicles will also not be allowed to travel from Gijhore towards the ISKCON Temple or from Sector 31/25 towards Gijhore.
Vehicles travelling from Gijhore intersection towards Atta Underpass can turn left, proceed via Hoshiarpur Tiraha and then turn right towards City Centre. An alternative route will be available by turning right from Gijhore Chowk and proceeding via the Somerville Tiraha.
Vehicles travelling from the Sector 31/25 intersection via Gijhore towards Sector 60, Sector 62, Indirapuram and Ghaziabad will have to use alternative routes via Spice Mall intersection, Adobe Chowk and the Sector 22, 23 and 54 Tiraha.
Devotees visiting the ISKCON Temple will have to park their vehicles at the designated parking area near the Adobe Building and walk to the temple. Vehicles arriving for VVIP parking will enter from the Sector 33/34 Tiraha and park at Shilp Haat parking before proceeding on foot.
Traffic on the Elevated Road will continue normally, but vehicles will not be allowed to enter or exit through the ISKCON and NTPC loops. The route from Gijhore Chowk towards the ISKCON Temple will remain closed until the Janmashtami celebrations conclude.
Traffic restrictions may be imposed around the Sanatan Dharma Temple in Sector 19 if the crowd increases. In such a situation, vehicle movement may be restricted between DM Chowk and Rai Residency and from DM Chowk towards the Telephone Exchange.
Similarly, if crowds increase around the temple in Sector 2, vehicle movement may be stopped between Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk and Golchakkar Chowk.
Police have increased security at temples and other major crowded locations. Along with drone and CCTV surveillance, male and female police personnel in plain clothes have also been deployed. Police forces have been positioned at different locations to maintain law and order during Janmashtami events and tableaux.
The traffic police has appealed to people to avoid unnecessary travel on restricted routes and use the designated alternative routes. Emergency vehicles, including ambulances and fire service vehicles, will be allowed to pass safely during the diversions.
